Transportation and ground access

Charlotte Douglas International Airport is located west of Charlotte and is accessible by taxi, app-based ride services, public buses, private transfers and rental cars.

Authorized taxis use the outer curb on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level, in Zone 1.

App-based ride services, including Uber and Lyft, use the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level in Zone 4.

Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) provides regular public bus service between the airport and different parts of Charlotte.

Route 5 Airport Sprinter connects Charlotte Douglas International Airport with Charlotte Transportation Center in Uptown Charlotte.

Route 60 also serves the airport and connects it with Tyvola Station on the LYNX Blue Line.

CATS stops are located in the ground transportation area on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level.

The main rental car companies operate from the Rental Car Facility located on the lower levels of the Hourly Deck directly across from the terminal.

Rental counters are located in the Level 2 lobby. Passengers can walk there from the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level via the Lower Level Walkway without using a shuttle bus.
