📦 Distinctive feature

Located approximately 2.4 km from Port Everglades, one of the world’s major cruise ports, the airport has a particularly close relationship with South Florida’s tourism and cruise traffic.

Transportation and ground access

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is located south of Downtown Fort Lauderdale, near major roads including I-595, I-95 and US-1. Main transportation options include taxis, app-based ride services, public buses, rail connections by shuttle and rental cars.

Authorized taxis use designated dispatch points on the lower Arrivals Level at all four terminals.

At Terminal 1, the taxi stand is located at the west end; at Terminal 2, at the east end; at Terminal 3, at the north end; and at Terminal 4, at the west end.

Uber, Lyft and other app-based ride services use designated pickup areas on the Arrivals Level.

At Terminal 1, rideshare pickup currently takes place in a temporary area beyond the taxi podium.

At Terminal 2, the rideshare area is located in the designated ground transportation zone near the terminal.

For Terminals 3 and 4, pickup takes place on the first level of the south section of Palm Garage, in the designated A-D zones.

App-based ride services may drop off departing passengers directly on the upper Departures Level of each terminal.

Broward County Transit serves the airport with Route 1.

The bus stop is located at the Rental Car Center at Stop G on the upper level.

Passengers from Terminal 1 can reach the Rental Car Center using the pedestrian walkway, while passengers from Terminals 2, 3 and 4 can use the airport’s free shuttle service.

The airport does not have a rail station integrated into the terminal complex.

Tri-Rail serves the airport through Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Station at Dania Beach, located a short distance from FLL.

Free shuttles connect the terminals with the Tri-Rail station. Pickup points are located on the lower Arrivals Level in designated ground transportation areas.

Brightline also operates shuttle service between its South Florida stations and the airport during selected operating periods.

The airport has a dedicated Rental Car Center located next to Terminal 1, housing twelve rental car companies.

Passengers arriving at Terminal 1 can access the Rental Car Center directly by a pedestrian bridge from Level 2 near the Concourse B security checkpoint.

Free shuttles connect Terminals 2, 3 and 4 with the Rental Car Center. Vehicles depart from designated areas on the lower Arrivals Level.

The shuttle service between the terminals and the Rental Car Center operates 24 hours a day, approximately every ten minutes.

🚶 Transportation between terminals

The airport has four passenger terminals arranged around the internal roadway and parking complex.

Passengers can move between terminals using exterior sidewalks, pedestrian routes through the parking garages or the parking garage tram service.

Rental Car Center shuttles are intended specifically to connect the Rental Car Center with the terminals and do not operate as a general interterminal transportation system.
