Ground transportation

The airport is approximately 8 km from central Palma, with its main road access via the Ma-19 motorway, connecting the terminal with the city and other parts of Mallorca. Travellers can choose between taxis, urban and intercity buses, and car rental services. The most suitable option depends on whether the destination is Palma itself, a nearby resort area or another town on the island.

The official taxi rank is located outside Level 0, next to the arrivals area. Passengers can go directly to the designated rank to take a regular taxi without making an advance reservation.

Taxis provide direct transfers to central Palma, Can Pastilla, Playa de Palma and other destinations across Mallorca. They can be particularly convenient for travellers carrying substantial luggage, travelling in groups or heading to places without direct bus connections.

Official fares apply, including any applicable supplements. Aena recommends using only taxis from the authorised rank, avoiding unsolicited transport offers outside the terminal and requesting a receipt for the journey.

The airport is served by EMT Palma city buses and Aerotib intercity services connecting different parts of Mallorca.

Route A1 connects the airport with central Palma, while A2 serves S’Arenal. Route 34 provides a connection to Son Espases Hospital.

For destinations elsewhere on the island, Aerotib operates services towards southwestern, northern, eastern and southern Mallorca, including Camp de Mar (A11), Can Picafort (A32), Cala Bona (A42) and Campos (A51). Some routes operate seasonally.

Bus stops are signposted outside the terminal, in the arrivals and departures areas. If your destination is outside Palma, it is worth checking whether a direct intercity service is available before travelling into the city centre.

Car rental desks are mainly located on Level 0, in the arrivals hall. Some companies also have service counters in the baggage reclaim area.

Rental vehicles are collected from designated areas of the airport car park, spread across Levels 0, 1 and 2. These areas can be reached on foot from the terminal, although the exact location depends on the rental company.

Before heading to the car park, check the instructions on your booking confirmation, as the rental desk and vehicle collection area may be on different levels. Some off-airport rental companies operate from separate facilities and provide shuttle transfers to their offices.

When returning your vehicle, follow the rental company’s instructions and the signs for designated rental car return areas.
