Transport and getting around
The airport is located east of central Chiclayo, with access from Avenida Fitzcarrald and connections to Avenida Bolognesi. The main transport options are taxis, local minibuses and shared vans operating outside the airport grounds, and car rental services.
The journey to Chiclayo’s main square (Parque Principal) usually takes around 10 minutes, depending on traffic. Taxis can also take passengers to Mercado Modelo, the city’s shopping areas and nearby districts such as José Leonardo Ortiz and La Victoria.
Señor de Sipán is among the transport companies identified as providing taxi services at the airport. Passengers should confirm the fare before starting their journey, particularly when using a taxi without a prearranged price.
Taxis are the most convenient option for passengers travelling with luggage or heading directly to their accommodation.
These vehicles provide connections to central Chiclayo and the Mercado Modelo area, with journeys taking approximately 15–20 minutes, depending on the route and traffic. There is no dedicated airport bus service linking the terminal directly with the city centre.
Combis are an inexpensive option for passengers travelling with light luggage, although they make frequent stops and have limited space for suitcases.
Intercity buses serving other destinations in northern Peru depart from bus terminals operated by individual transport companies in Chiclayo, rather than from the airport.
Vehicle collection and return arrangements depend on the booking conditions, with meeting points at the airport or in its parking areas. Passengers should confirm these details before arrival.
From Chiclayo, visitors can drive to Pimentel, Lambayeque, Ferreñafe and other destinations in the region, including major archaeological attractions.
Renting a car is particularly useful for exploring different parts of Lambayeque Department. For occasional journeys within Chiclayo, taxis are generally a simpler option.
Chiclayo combines domestic flights to Lima and Tarapoto with a direct international connection to Panama City, operated by Copa Airlines. This route provides access to connecting flights across the Americas without first travelling through Lima, an important advantage for a regional airport in northern Peru.
