Transport and getting around
The airport is located east of Piura, on Avenida Corpac in the district of Castilla. Transport to the city centre and other destinations in the region is mainly provided by taxis, pre-booked transfers and rental cars. No urban public transport route has been identified with a stop inside the airport terminal.
The journey to the city centre usually takes around 15–25 minutes, depending on traffic and the destination. Passengers should agree on or confirm the fare before departure, particularly when using a taxi without a prearranged price.
For journeys to other towns, pre-booked transfer services such as Aeroexpreso offer connections from the airport to Sullana, Paita, Colán, Talara, Máncora and Punta Sal, as well as Piura and Catacaos.
Taxis are generally the simplest option for reaching central Piura, while pre-booked transfers are useful for passengers travelling directly to other destinations in the region.
SIXT operates a Meet & Greet service, with a representative meeting passengers in the arrivals area to arrange vehicle collection. The company does not have a permanent rental desk inside the terminal. Other providers may also use designated meeting points or prearranged delivery.
Vehicles are collected and returned according to each booking’s instructions, generally at the airport car park or another agreed meeting point.
Renting a car is particularly useful for visiting Catacaos, Sullana, Paita, Colán and other destinations in Piura Department. For occasional trips within the city, taxis are usually more convenient.
Although Piura is served by several airlines, its scheduled commercial flights are concentrated on the route to Lima, operated by LATAM, SKY Airline and JetSMART. Passengers travelling by air to other domestic or international destinations generally need to connect through the Peruvian capital.
