Flight departures and arrivals
Check real-time flight status at Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport (MSP). Review schedules and possible delays before heading to the terminal or arranging your transportation.
Minneapolis–Saint Paul has two separate passenger terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, with independent road access. The terminals are connected by the METRO Blue Line, which provides free travel between them 24 hours a day. The same light rail line also connects the airport with downtown Minneapolis and the Mall of America.
Ground transportation
The airport is located south of Minneapolis and offers road and public transportation connections throughout the Twin Cities. Options include taxis, Uber and Lyft, light rail, public buses, private transfers and rental cars.
- Terminal 1: from the internal tram level (Tram Level, Level T), follow the signs to the taxi stand one level above.
- Terminal 2: taxis are available at the Ground Transport Center, on the lower level of the Purple Ramp, across from the terminal.
Fares are metered and depend on the destination and traffic conditions. Taxi assistance staff are available during much of the day, although taxi service also operates outside staffed hours.
Uber and Lyft use designated pickup areas:
- Terminal 1: Level 2 of the Green Ramp, above the Ground Transportation Center.
- Terminal 2: Level 2 of the Purple Ramp, across from the terminal building.
Passengers should check their assigned pickup location in the app before heading to the vehicle. Private transfers and shared shuttle services to hotels and other destinations in the region are also available.
Pickup locations and service details can be found on the official MSP ground transportation page.
- Terminal 1: the station is beneath the Red, Blue and Silver parking ramps. From Level T, below baggage claim, take the airport’s internal tram toward the parking facilities and follow the signs for light rail.
- Terminal 2: the station is located near the north side of the Orange Ramp. From Level 1, near check-in, use the elevated walkway and follow the signs to the light rail platform.
Blue Line service to Minneapolis and the Mall of America generally operates from approximately 5:00 a.m. until midnight, with some earlier departures depending on the station and direction. Schedules and frequencies may vary.
Travel between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 is free and available 24 hours a day, including outside regular service hours to the city.
Metro Transit Route 54 connects Terminal 1 with Saint Paul and other destinations in the region. Its stop is located at the Transit Center on Level 1 of the Silver Ramp. Terminal 2 does not have an equivalent stop for this route, so passengers can use the free light rail connection to Terminal 1.
Additional regional and intercity transportation services are available from other operators.
Routes, schedules and fares can be checked on the official Metro Transit website.
- Terminal 1: rental car counters are located in the Silver Ramp, accessible via the internal tram from Level T. Follow the Rental Cars signs upon arrival.
- Terminal 2: rental counters are located in the Ground Transportation Center, on Level 1 of the Purple Ramp, across from the terminal.
Rental companies set their own operating hours, reservation conditions and vehicle pickup and return procedures. Travelers should confirm the terminal specified in their reservation and follow the appropriate signs when returning a vehicle.
Current facility details and rental company information are available on the official MSP ground transportation website.
Transportation between terminals
Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are separate buildings without a direct pedestrian connection. The main way to travel between them is the METRO Blue Line, which provides free service 24 hours a day. No ticket is required when traveling exclusively between the airport terminals.
The airport also operates a free accessible shuttle service for passengers with mobility limitations or other special transportation needs. It connects the terminals and certain airport facilities, generally running every 20 minutes between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Outside those hours, service is available upon request.
