Ground transportation
Tampa International Airport offers several ground transportation options, including taxis, app-based rideshare services, public buses and airport shuttles. An automated train system known as SkyConnect links the Main Terminal with the Rental Car Center and Economy Parking facilities.
Taxi stands are located in the Red 1 and Blue 2 Ground Transportation Areas on Level 1.
App-based transportation services, including Uber, Lyft and Wridz, operate from designated pickup locations at Red Express Curbside, Blue Express Curbside and SkyCenter One.
Passengers should request their ride through the appropriate app and follow the instructions to the assigned pickup location.
To reach the public bus stops, passengers should take the free SkyConnect train from the Main Terminal to the Rental Car Center and follow the signs to the outdoor Remote Curbside area.
HART provides public transportation connections within the Tampa metropolitan area, while PSTA serves communities in Pinellas County.
Route information, schedules and fares are available on the official HART website and PSTA website.
Hotel shuttles and prearranged transportation services use the Red 1, Red 2, Blue 1 and Blue 2 Ground Transportation Areas on Level 1 of the Main Terminal.
Passengers are advised to confirm their exact pickup location with their transportation provider before traveling.
Passengers can reach the center using the free automated SkyConnect train, which connects the terminal, rental car facilities and Economy Parking.
Upon arrival at the Rental Car Center, travelers can proceed to the rental company counters and follow the signs to the designated vehicle pickup and return areas.
Off-airport rental car companies may provide shuttle transportation from the Remote Curbside area adjacent to the Rental Car Center.
Getting between the Main Terminal and airsides
Tampa International Airport has one Main Terminal connected to four separate gate areas, known as Airsides A, C, E and F, by automated people mover systems.
Each airside has its own automated shuttle connection to the Main Terminal, allowing passengers to travel between the central building and the departure gate areas without lengthy outdoor walks.
Security checkpoints are located at the individual airsides, before passengers enter their respective gate areas. Travelers should check which airside serves their flight before boarding the appropriate shuttle.
The secure departure areas of the different airsides are not directly connected. Passengers transferring between airsides generally need to return to the Main Terminal and pass through security screening again.
Tampa International Airport is known for its distinctive landside/airside design, featuring a central terminal connected to separate gate complexes by automated people movers. These shuttles are separate from the SkyConnect system, which serves the Rental Car Center and Economy Parking facilities.
